It’s hard to be in a relationship with someone who is suffering.

We offer support to the people who love out tweens, teens, and adult clients.

In our Parents / Affected Others skills group we teach parents, partners, and caregivers strategies for setting healthy boundaries, improving communication, and dealing with a family member’s overwhelming emotions.

We can also coach you to respond to risky or self-harming behaviors such as explosive anger, suicide threats, or self-harm.

We Can Help You:

  • Set clear boundaries at home

  • Improve communication with people you love

  • Manage the challenges that come in families when someone is struggling

  • Deal with a family member’s overwhelming emotions

  • Respond to self-harming or dangerous behavior.

Our biggest hopes for you and your family when you leave our program are that:

  • Your loved one will feel capable of mastering their emotions

  • You and your family will have concrete skills you can use in life

  • You will have the feeling you can survive anything life sends your way

  • You will feel relieved of the stress of uncertainty

All of our DBT Skills groups cover the same curriculum for the entire week. Whether they are adults, teens, or parents / affected others, the only variation is in the perspective that the skills are taught.

Parent(s) of Teen Clients

For Parent(s) of TEEN clients, you will enroll in a group during intake with your child.

DBT Eastside requires that at least one parent / guardian of a TEEN client attend group for one year. This will put you through the first cycle of our DBT Skills group with your child.

While you will not be in the same room as your child (we separate out teens and parents), you will be learning the the same skills.

Parent(s)/Affected Other of Adult Clients

For Parents / Affected Others of ADULT CLIENTS, once your loved one has enrolled in our program, contact our administrative team and we can arrange your group assignment and start date.

Parents / Affected Others of ADULT CLIENTS will enroll under our “pay as you go” structure. You will only be billed for groups you attend and the fee will be at our current rate.
