DBT Eastside’s Stance on Anti-Racism Work
DBT Eastside knows Black Lives Matter.
DBT Eastside recognizes the deep impact that historical injustices have made upon all of our clients, but most especially our Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) clients. We believe in the importance of saying their names and know that intersectionality influences / impacts everyone to varying degrees.
As part of our commitment to equity and, notably, anti-racism work, we continue to keep in mind that the burden to educate should not fall to our BIPOC clients. We take ownership of our efforts and acknowledge that anti-racism work goes beyond training and books. DBT Eastside’s team of therapists continue to strive to be mindful of how tradition and dogmatic adherence to structure can perpetuate systems that are anti-black or harmful to our BIPOC clients. We seek to grow and improve, and we remain committed to anti-racism and our equity work.
