DBT Eastside’s Equity Statement

DBT Eastside is a collective team of therapists committed to providing evidenced-based counseling services to a diverse community of clients. As part of this commitment, our therapists aim to stay informed of and continually educated in how equity and the lack thereof influence/ impact both our clients and our work. 

To ensure that the DBT Eastside team of therapists consistently cares for all of our clients and their individual needs, DBT Eastside maintains an Equity Committee that supports the full team of therapists. This committee not only provides training and resources for our therapists, but also routinely reviews and audits practices to address implicit bias, intention vs impact concerns, and heteronormative, racist, or problematic traditional frameworks. 

DBT Eastside strives to welcome people of all backgrounds and identities. We acknowledge the historical lack of recognition and space given to marginalized communities.

Finally, in regard to providers, we would like our clients and professional colleagues to be aware that we believe representation matters. We know that our current team does not fully represent those in our community and those we serve. In recognition of this, we have identified where we have missed opportunities to add more diversity to our team and have adjusted our recruitment strategies to address this.
